What the Instagram Link Generator Creates

Five separate modes are available in the interface. Each mode handles a different sharing task:

How to Generate an Instagram Profile Link

1. Select the Profile tab.
2. Enter the Instagram username. You may include or omit the @ prefix.
3. Choose Follow on Instagram, View Profile, Instagram or Message Us, or enter custom link text.
4. Select Generate Profile Links.
5. Copy the web, app, DM, HTML or Markdown version you need.
6. Use Open to test a generated destination before sharing it.
7. Download the accompanying QR code if required.

For example, entering @yourbrand creates the web profile URL https://www.instagram.com/yourbrand/. The @ symbol is not included in the finished URL.

Profile Link Formats Explained

Web profile link

The web version follows the format https://www.instagram.com/username/. It can be placed in website buttons, documents, email signatures or other locations that accept ordinary HTTPS links.

Instagram app deep link

The app version follows the format instagram://user?username=username. It attempts to open the profile through the Instagram app on compatible devices. Behaviour can vary when the app is unavailable or the platform does not support the deep-link scheme, so provide the web link as a fallback.

Instagram DM link

The DM version follows the format https://ig.me/m/username. It is designed to open a conversation with the specified account. Device, login and messaging settings can affect what the visitor sees after opening it. Meta documents this format in its ig.me link guidance.

HTML and Markdown links

HTML output creates an anchor element containing the selected button text. Markdown creates a link in the format [Link Text](Instagram URL). Review generated code before adding it to a live website, especially when you entered custom text.

How Post and Reel Link Generation Works

Post / Reel mode accepts full Instagram URLs using the /p/, /reel/ or legacy /tv/ structure. It extracts the shortcode and generates the following outputs:

• A standard post URL using /p/SHORTCODE/
• A Reel URL using /reel/SHORTCODE/
• A post embed URL using /p/SHORTCODE/embed/
• Instagram blockquote embed HTML
• A standard HTML link
• A Markdown link
• A QR code linked to the generated post URL

The tool creates both post and Reel versions from the same shortcode. It does not check which version represents the actual content. Open both destinations and keep the one that loads correctly.

The generated blockquote follows Instagram's public embed pattern. Whether the finished embed appears depends on the content's availability, privacy status and Instagram's current embed behaviour. Meta explains supported public-post embedding through its Instagram oEmbed documentation.

How to Create an Instagram Hashtag Link

Select the Hashtag tab and enter the hashtag text without the # symbol. The tool accepts letters, numbers and underscores. Spaces and other special characters produce a validation error.

A valid entry generates:

• A web link using instagram.com/explore/tags/hashtag/
• An app link using instagram://tag?name=hashtag
• HTML and Markdown links with preset or custom text
• A QR code for the hashtag page

Generating a hashtag link does not confirm that Instagram currently displays results for it. Open the web result before adding the link to a campaign.

Generate Up to 50 Instagram Links at Once

Bulk mode accepts one username per line. You can include the @ prefix because the tool removes it automatically. Choose one output type before generating:

• Web Profile: Creates standard Instagram profile URLs.
• App Deep Link: Creates instagram://user profile links.
• DM Link: Creates ig.me/m/username links.

Each generated item has an individual Copy control, while Copy All Links copies the complete result. The maximum is 50 usernames. If more than 50 lines are entered, only the first 50 are processed and the current interface does not warn that later entries were omitted.

Create an Instagram QR Code

QR Code mode can start from a username or a full Instagram destination.

Username input

Enter a username and choose whether the QR should contain a web profile URL, app profile deep link or ig.me DM link.

Full URL input

Paste a supported instagram.com, ig.me or instagram:// link. The complete URL, including any query parameters, is encoded in the QR code.

Available QR sizes

• 128×128 pixels
• 200×200 pixels
• 256×256 pixels

After generation, the selected destination appears below the code and the interface provides a Download QR PNG control. These are static QR codes containing the generated URL. The tool does not provide scan analytics, editable destinations, colour customization, SVG output or dynamic redirects.

Where to Use the Generated Links

• Website buttons: Use the web profile link or generated HTML.
• Mobile calls to action: Test the app deep link and retain a web fallback.
• Customer enquiries: Use the DM link when you want visitors to reach the conversation screen.
• Developer documentation: Use Markdown when the editor supports Markdown syntax.
• Post or Reel references: Use the content URL that successfully opens the intended item.
• Printed materials: Use a tested QR code and clearly state what will open after scanning.

A generated link cannot make someone follow, message or engage with an account automatically. It only takes the visitor to the selected Instagram destination.

Important Checks Before Sharing

• Confirm that the username is spelled correctly.
• Open the web link and verify that it reaches the intended account.
• Test app deep links on the mobile devices relevant to your audience.
• Check both generated versions when processing a post, Reel or legacy IGTV URL.
• Review custom HTML before publishing it.
• Scan QR codes from the final printed size before producing multiple copies.
• Regenerate profile and DM links if the Instagram username changes.
• Do not assume that generated links include click or scan tracking.

Current Tool Limitations

• The generator does not verify whether a username, hashtag or content shortcode exists.
• Post / Reel mode creates both post and Reel URLs instead of identifying the correct content type.
• Bulk mode processes only the first 50 usernames.
• The bulk interface does not warn when entries after number 50 are omitted.
• QR codes are available only as 128, 200 or 256 pixel PNG outputs.
• QR colour, logo, error-correction and design controls are not provided.
• There are no click, scan or engagement analytics.
• App deep-link behaviour varies by device and Instagram availability.
• Instagram DM links do not include a pre-filled message field.
• An invalid QR submission can leave the previous successful QR visible.
