What Is a WiFi QR Code Sign?

A WiFi QR code sign is a printable, ready-to-display design that combines a scannable WiFi QR code with the network name and password shown in large, readable text — so guests can connect either by scanning with their phone's camera or by simply reading and typing the details. This tool is built specifically to design that sign, not just generate the bare code.

Choose a full wall poster for a door or noticeboard, or a table tent that folds flat-packed into a free-standing card readable from both sides — ideal for cafe and restaurant tables. Everything is generated entirely in your browser.

How to Create a WiFi QR Code Sign

  1. Enter your network name, security type, and password: mark the network as hidden if it doesn't broadcast its name.
  2. Add sign details: your venue name, a custom heading, and instructions — all optional.
  3. Choose a format: Wall Poster for a single printed sheet, or Table Tent for a fold-and-stand card.
  4. Pick a sign style that fits your space.
  5. Generate, scan-test, and print.

How the Table Tent Format Works

The Table Tent format is a single image split by a dashed fold line. The bottom half is drawn normally; the top half is pre-rotated 180° — the standard trick used by printable tent-card templates. Print it single-sided, then fold along the dashed line and stand it on a table. Because the top half is pre-rotated, both resulting faces read right-side-up from their own side once folded, instead of one face appearing upside-down.

Why Show the Password as Text, Not Just a QR Code?

Not every guest wants to (or can) scan a QR code — some prefer typing the password directly into their device's WiFi settings, and a printed password also works as a backup if a phone's camera app has trouble with the code. This tool always shows the network name and password in large text alongside the QR code, so the sign works either way.

Where to Use a WiFi QR Code Sign

  • Cafes, restaurants, and bars (table tents).
  • Hotel rooms and vacation rentals.
  • Offices, waiting rooms, and co-working spaces.
  • Retail stores and salons.
  • Community centers and libraries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this WiFi QR code sign generator free?

Yes. Generating and downloading a WiFi QR code sign with this tool is completely free, with no account required.

What's the difference between this and the regular WiFi QR Code Generator?

The WiFi QR Code Generator produces just the bare scannable code. This tool is focused on the finished, printable sign itself — readable network name and password text, a venue name and heading, a choice of Wall Poster or Table Tent layouts, and a matching visual style.

Does scanning the code actually connect the device?

On most modern Android and iPhone camera apps, yes — scanning prompts an on-screen "Join Network" action using the standard WiFi QR format. A few older devices may only copy the details instead of connecting automatically, which is exactly why the password is also shown as readable text.

Do I need double-sided printing for the table tent?

No — single-sided printing is all you need. The top half of the design is pre-rotated specifically so a single-sided print, folded in half, reads correctly from both sides.

Is my WiFi password sent to a server?

No. The QR code and sign are generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your network name and password never leave your device.
